Profitable on paper. So where's the cash?

It's the most common thing we hear from owners turning over $1M+. The P&L says one thing, the bank account says another, and nobody has ever sat down and explained the gap.

Most owners have a gut feel for how the business is travelling. Gut feel is usually right about the direction and wrong about the size. It tells you things are tight. It doesn't tell you your gross margin has slipped 4%, which is $59,342 in lost profit. Or that your customers are paying 19 days slower than your terms, which is $77,226 tied up in unpaid invoices.

Common questions

Do I stay with my tax accountant?

Yes. Most businesses we do this for keep their accountant for tax and compliance. If your accountant sent you here, nothing about that arrangement changes.

Why is it free?

Because showing beats telling. We could send you a proposal describing how we work. We'd rather do the work and let you see it. If it's useful and you want to keep going, we'll talk about that at the end. If not, you keep the report.

What do you need from me?

Access to your accounting file, and that's about it. Xero and MYOB both work. If you're on something else, tell us and we'll say whether it's workable.

What if my books are behind?

A few weeks behind is fine. Months behind and we'll still run it, but the review can only be as good as the numbers you give us. If that's where you're at, getting them current is almost certainly the first thing we'd put on the list.

How long does it take?

About a week to put the report together. Then we book a meeting and walk you through it.

Want us to run one on your business?

We only need a few details to start. We'll come back with the next steps, including arranging access to your accounting file.
